Mauro

I.G.P. VINOS DE LA TIERRA DE CASTILLA Y LEÓN

Family wineries on a human scale, consistent with their history and principles, committed to the environment and biodiversity, supported by organic viticulture and where stable and trustworthy personal relationships are developed with workers, suppliers and distributors. As producers, they are challenged to enhance the potential and greatness of their vineyards and through a precise, respectful and «natural» vinification, based on knowledge, experience and intuition, maintain excellence in the processes and achieve long-lasting and unique wines, more pure and complex each year, which express the opulence and elegance of Tempranillo in the Duero Valley.

The legendary maestro, Mariano Garcia founded Bodegas Mauro in 1980 as an homage to his father, in the historic town of Tudelo, by the River Duero in the province of Valladolid. Mariano García was the first degree-holding winemaker at Vega Sicilia, where his father had always worked and where he himself had been born.

Much credit for Ribera’s rapid ascent goes to Mariano García. Mariano Garcia is a very historical figure in Ribera.  He has been making wine in Ribera since 1968.

His family has known the area for many generations, and this is what makes his pedigree unique: the history to connect to how things were and how people used to work in the vineyards.  A focus on old vineyards, an understanding of grape varieties and local terroirs and a non-interventionist approach to winemaking combine to create wines that marry power and finesse

Today. Mariano’s two sons, Alberto and Eduardo are running the company.  Alberto is in charge of management and sales and Eduardo is in charge of the winemaking and vineyards.
